The following events appearing in date order are sanctioned and approved by the Town of Palm Beach Centennial Commission. Every business or entity with ties to the Town of Palm Beach is encouraged to sponsor an Event, Program or Promotion to celebrate the Centennial and if approved by the commission, the activity will be posted here on the Official Calendar.

The Palm Beach County Film and Television Institute is producing a DVD featuring well known individuals speaking about the history of Palm Beach from their personal experience. This historical record will serve as an archive for future generations. Proceeds from the sale of the DVD will go toward the cost of completing the history project. A short version of the DVD will premier at the Centennial Gala at the Breaker’s Hotel on April 16, 2011. For more information call Bill Metzger 561-309-3169.
Legacy Project – The Centennial Commission has approached several local organizations and prominent citizens about creating a permanent legacy in honor of the Centennial that will most likely take the form of a beautification project. For more information contact Bill Bone at 561-832-0623.

Ceramic Artist Ursula Vicari is creating a 16” high vase to celebrate the Centennial. Ms. Vicari plans on exhibiting the vase at a local gallery.
C’est Si Bon Gourmet Shop and Catering located at 280 Sunset Avenue will be offering a weekly promotion “100 Years of Gourmet in Palm Beach”, beginning in mid December. They will prepare a menu of gourmet selections typical in the early 1900’s each week will be dedicated to a specific era beginning with 1911 through to the present day. Chesterfield Hotel will honor the centennial with promotional advertising on their Website, in their direct mail “Calendar of Events”, in printed media advertising in the PB Daily News, PB Society and PB Post and on in-house signage and promotional pieces. They will also participate in the PB Chamber’s Centennial Restaurant Week offering a two course lunch priced at $19.11.
Classic Bookshop located at 310 South County Road has been in business in the Town for over 35 years. To commemorate the centennial, they will be giving away free bookmarks to their customers.
Coudert Institute – Dale Coudert and Steven Rose live in a home built in the 1920’s by Mizner. They will hold a discussion group on events that took place from the 20’s to today on the social scene, politics, style & music of the period. Refreshments will be served. The Edward and Deborah Pollack Fine Art Gallery located at 205 Worth Avenue is exhibiting the work of artist Laura Woodward, “The Pioneer Artist of Palm Beach” in honor of the Centennial. Ms. Woodward’s work was integral to the development of Palm Beach by influencing Henry Flagler to establish a resort. She helped Flagler publicize Palm Beach with her paintings which were exhibited throughout the United States. The exhibit will run from December 15, 2010, through January 14, 2011. The Flagler Museum – “Mizner Mediterranean: The Origins of Palm Beach Style” – In honor of the 100th anniversary of the incorporation of the Town of Palm Beach, Mizner Mediterranean explores the origins of the Town’s signature style through Mizner’s most significant projects on the Island. The exhibition examines the many facets of Mizner’s genius, including works not only from the architectural office, but also his other companies such as Mizner Industries and Las Manos pottery. The exhibition will present architectural drawings, photographs, and plans in addition to furniture, metalwork, ceramics, decorative tiles, and sculpture produced or imported by Mizner’s companies. This exhibit runs from October 12, 2010 – January 2, 2011. Museum hours are Sunday 12-5 and Tuesday through Saturday 10-5, this event is free with Museum admission. The Flagler Museum – “The Extraordinary Joseph Urban” – at The Flagler Museum Joseph Urban was a prolific and innovative Gilded Age illustrator, designer, architect, and one of the most significant stage designers of the early 20th century. This exhibition will explore Urban’s impressive body of work and celebrate this highly original designer of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The Greater South County Road Association Monthly News Letter will provide an update of Centennial Events and News.
The Greater South County Road Association Map – The centennial logo will be included on 30,000 maps of mid-town Palm Beach that will be available in local shops and hotels. Sponsored by the Greater South County Road Association.
The Greater South County Road Association has received permission from the Town Council to rename South County Road and Royal Poinciana Way to their original names of Palm Beach Avenue and Flagler Ave for the Centennial. Street signs will be erected from March 19, 2011 to April 17, 2011.
Hand Painted Wine Glasses-Artist Denise Parisi from North of Worth has designed hand painted wine glasses with the Palm Beach Centennial Logo on one side and a palm tree on the other side. These glasses will offered for sale at all participating Greater South County Road Association stores. The cost for these glasses will range from $20 – $30. The Kravis Center for the Performing Arts will celebrate the Town of Palm Beach Centennial by placing historical photos of the Town on the covers of their monthly Playbill.

Main Street News which has been in business since 1928 is planning on presenting the history of Main Street News through photographs and newspaper articles on their main display table in the store located at 255 Royal Poinciana Way. The display will run from February 1st through the 28th.

Neiman Marcus Palm Beach invites you to participate in the centennial celebration by making “A Palm Beach Wish for the Next 100 Years”. The Palm Beach Chamber of Commerce is coordinating Palm Beach Centennial Restaurant Week. On island restaurants will honor the centennial by offering prix-fixe luncheon menus drawing on the historic menus from the 1900’s priced at $19.11 or 91 cents for breakfast features. Palm Beach Civic Association – Centennial Banners –The Palm Beach Civic Association will be hanging banners on Town light poles for display during the months of January through April. Beginning in November residents will be able to sponsor a centennial banner: 1 banner for $200, 2 banners for $350 and 10 banners for $1,500. After the centennial celebration in April the banner will be given to the individual if they so desire. Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach – Centennial Palm Sale – This year’s palm sale is a landscaping project centered on the Town’s Par 3 Golf Course which is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The Palm Sale will raise money to plant approximately 150 trees of chinese fan palm and sable palm variety. Society of the Four Arts – “A Return to Palm Beach: Jewels from the Marjorie Merriweather Post Collection” – at The Society of the Four Arts, 2 Four Arts Plaza. Society of the Four Arts – Children’s Library/Society of the Four Arts – 4th and 5th Grade students from the Palm Beach Public School, Palm Beach Day Academy, and Rosarian Academy will participate in a Creative Writing Contest. There will be 1 winner in each grade per school. The student winners will be asked to participate on Saturday December 11, 2010 at the Official Kick Off of the Town’s Centennial Celebration & dedication of the Henry Flagler Statue.
Taglialatella Galleries located at 313 ½ Worth Avenue – Via Bice will honor the Centennial with a fine art commission from respected figurative artist Rob Hay. The gallery will publish a limited edition offset lithograph of the work. The artist will sign and number a limited quantity of the edition. The original painting will be exhibited in the gallery during the season. The offset lithograph and the signed and numbered edition will be for sale. The original art work will be put up for auction at a future date still to be determined. All proceeds from the auction and any sales will be donated to charity. The candle, a mix of jasmine and bamboo is in a glass container with the William R.
